Mobile Widget Engine Definition

We define the term Mobile Widget Engine as:

• a runtime environment for Mobile Widgets
• usually using the common web browser engine already running on the system
• additionally providing APIs to access device capabilities and applications
• optionally integrating Widgets into the OS and menu structure so they appear as native applications
• can be a J2ME or native application, however it has to be a runtime for web-based widgets as defined here
• can also be called a Widget Runtime (not referring to the Nokia WRT directly)
