It's too bad that there's no standards for the extension of Javascript, CSS, XML and DHTML for standalone applications.

In our group, we sometimes write HTA apps for IE6.  Microsoft's HTAs were ahead of their time as far as apps via a browser go.   Now they've dropped that, really, in favor of Silverlight.  Oh well.

I wish Opera Platform was still being developed, but it looks like it's been dormant for many months.

Basically, mobile programmers need and want a single cross-platform development method.   It's unbelieveable that we still don't have that after all these years.
